New Years Resolution - Build a motorcycle

Good end to the year, as the bike is now in kit form.  Work can now start on cleaning, detailed inspection and reassembly.

A game of two halves

Two halves of the crank case are now separated. A hammer and a block of wood was used around the case until a small gap opened up. WD-40 was sprayed in and left overnight, with a few more hits of the hammer (and undoing the last bolt that was hiding)  the two halves separated.

Sludge!

6502 with RAM

I have now attached RAM to the 6502 circuit. I've created a shot test program that stores a jump location in to RAM then fetches that location to jump to.
Next step is to plan the pref board layout

Starter motor removed

I have now removed the starter motor, and gear change assembly.  I have one very stubborn bolt to remove from the front engine mount.  The gearbox can then be split!  I have also noticed a small amount of damage to the oil filter cover, so this will need replacing.
Gear selector before it was removed

Gear selector now removed

Oil filter and cover plate (damaged)

Apple One RAM

While building my own 6502 computer I noticed that the CY62256 RAM chips I have, have a completely different pin-out to the HM62256 RAM that is required for my Apple One replica. Doh!  So off to Ebay to order the required IC [Edit] IC found for £2 and on it's way soon.

Clutch removed

Clutch, oil pump and other 'stuff' removed.  Engine left to drain the last of the oil from the engine from the oil pump site.

And the pistons

6502 address decoder

Address decoder built and fitted to the breadboard. Waiting on EEPROM to continue the project

What a tool

Tool to remove the alternator has just arrived, great service - it only took a day to arrive.

6502 Test rig

After zero luck with the apple one project.  I have started construction of my own 6502 computer.  I have put together a single step circuit and address viewer (both from the apple one manual)

Block Off

Lots of wood distroyed in the process, but with a good soaking in WD-40 the cyclinder block has been removed.

Off with her head

Not a bad couple of hours work the head has been removed.  The block seems to be stuck firm, I shall leave this for another day!

Spot the difference, bugger it snapped!

Oil!

Drain the oil this weekend, busy with other 'things' so it will have a week to drain.  The condition of the oil looks quite good.

It may work!

I have just the address bus and data bus to add to the Apple 1 replica.  Looking nice!

Railway Update

After the small mishap with lifting the CB250 engine, a few days off work have allowed me to work on the railway (cardboard is so much lighter than metal)

Photos?

I have used a card reader at work to get the photos off the xD memory cards.  Most of the work was done on the bike last weekend, but I did manage to get the engine onto a nice working frame this weekend (after last weekend short excursion to the out of hours doctor - sh*t was that sound from my back) .  This will allow me to work from the 'nice' chair in the shed and remove parts from the engine.  I do need to drain the oil first!

xD

Quite a lot of work done on the bike, but no photos as yet!  I have a new 'shed' camera that uses xD cards - but I need to get a card reader for it. The frame is now completely naked, and work can now start on the engine.

Apple One Replica

Work starter on the latest Apple product!

This should become an Apple One replica. I have most of the components required, just need to find a 62256 memory chip and a memory decoder chip.

That was heavy!

Team effort (Wife & Daughter) required to remove the engine!  Not much to go now and the whole bike will be in the warm and dry for the winter.

Pipes Off

Rear exhaust, instrument cluster and headlamp removed.  Also the wiring harness and handlebars are now off the bike.

Most of the rear done

I have removed most of the rear of the bike, next will be the wiring and top of the front end.  Using freezer bags seems to be working well as you can write details of the parts on them with a marker pen  (even add a small drawing if needed).

Rear of Bike

Work has started on the rear of the bike, both the seat and the tank have also been removed. It took some time to remove the rear wheel as the rear axle looked like it had not been removed for some years.

Good clean and the seat vinyl has come up very well!
Rear mudguard
Rear axle, finally out of the bike!

The Plan

I have started removing parts from the bike, I plan to bag parts up and take photos like the one below.  This should help with the reassembly!

Oh dear, another distraction

After a little research, I have found a bike to restore.  I have never attempted this before, but should be fun. I'm going to try and keep as much of the original bike as I can, repairing broken items as needed.

Upgrades!

Added some nice LEDs and a camera to the large hexcopoter.  Made a screen holder for the transmitter tray from platicard and ply.
First test flight with camera went well this morning.

XJ 470 Update

The good news is that it works!  After finding the ESC issue and fixing it, I was hopeful it would fly.  It didn't, throttle response was rubbish and no matter how much I adjusted the PID settings I couldn't keep the quad in the air.  The solution was to change the size of the props from 10 inch to 8 inch, this has made the quad a pleasure to fly.  I'm now waiting for the time and weather conditions to test the Altitude hold mode, and GPS hold.

Summer build

Holiday project just arrived. Looking at building by first tricopter, I have a spare CC3D flight controller left over from the test on my last quad. The quad that just wouldn't fly!  See my next post for an update. You wil find a build video of this tricopter on Painless 360's Youtube channel

New Project

Needed a larger case for one of my raspberry pi, so here is my take on Orac from the 1980s Blakes 7

First flight for the new quad

It took a while to sort this one out. It was quite stable on the cc3d flight controller, but when using the flip32 it would not fly! After some work I found that one of the four QBrain speed controllers had been set to Ni- battery type and not Lipo.

Needed to repair the landing skids after the first bad flight on the flip32!

It's been a while!

Busy with other stuff, like tring to finish my OU project for my degree. This hasn't stopped me starting yet another frame. I'm waiting for a flip32 flight controller to arrive from Banggood to try for this frame.

How many multirotors does one need

So how many multirotors do I need to own before it becomes an obsession?
You have to admit this does look very cool. It maybe a while before it's ready for a flight as I need to equip it with six props!
